Karteros Beach

Karteros Beach lies on Crete's north coast just east of Heraklion International Airport, about 7 km from Heraklion town. Stretching for roughly 1 km of soft sand, it is one of the closest proper beaches to the city and is popular primarily with locals looking for an easy seaside escape close to home. The beach has soft sand and shallow, clean water near the shore. It is organised in places, with hotels and beach bars, some of which draw a younger crowd, while other stretches remain more open and low-key.
