Σταλίδα

Stalis, also written Stalida, is a resort town on Crete's north coast set between the larger resorts of Hersonissos and Malia, in the eastern part of the Heraklion region. Its long beach is the heart of the resort, a strand of soft golden sand with clear, shallow and generally calm water, bordered by rocky formations at its edges. The beach is well suited to families. The sand is soft and warm, the sea is shallow and gentle close to shore, and the calm conditions make it comfortable for children. Compared with neighbouring Malia, Stalis is quieter and more relaxed, attracting mainly families and couples rather than the party crowd, which gives it a more easygoing atmosphere while still being lively enough to keep things interesting. The surrounding resort is well developed, with hotels of all sizes, plenty of tavernas and bars, plus practical amenities such as an ATM and a pharmacy, so everything you need is within walking distance of the sand. Stalis suits travellers who want a comfortable, organised family beach holiday with good facilities and an easy walk to dining and shopping, while keeping the option of nearby nightlife in Malia and Hersonissos. Practical tips: it is well connected by road and bus along the north coast, the calm shallow water is ideal for young children, and booking accommodation close to the central beach puts you within easy reach of the tavernas and amenities.
